You're correct--I was only saying that in comparison to SCARY MOVIE--which shows no respect or love for the horror genre--the Brooks film shows affection at least for it. I've always thought that Boyle's monster was the most non-comedic character in the movie--it's his encounters with the comedic characters in the film that paint him into humorous situations. But yes A&C and YF are two different animals entirely.

And there's one scene in YF that I find to be quite serious--the prison gaurd that taunts The Monster with fire could be right out of any "serious" Universal Horror. But as Brooks says on the commentary, the scene was placed there to bring a bit of horror to the otherwise comedic proceedings.
