I missed it but are you saying TCM showed the Karloff version of PARDON US?

I thought Karloff only appeared in the French version. Did TCM show that one?

No, hope I didn't mislead -- they only showed the American PARDON US, not the French version, but you can still catch a glimpse of Karloff (no dialogue) among the other cons if you look sharp.

I've never seen the French version, nor any of the foreign language Laurel and Hardys, just brief clips. TCM is famous for showing alternate language films, such as the German THE BLUE ANGEL and the French ANNA CHRISTIE. Perhaps we can persuade 'em to schedule the French and Spanish L&H's in their foreign films slot on Sunday evenings!

D'oh! Yes, he's terrific, as is Charlie Hall. Another one whom I appreciated much more after enjoying so many of his Roach shorts on TCM recently was Charlie Chase and his fez in SONS OF THE DESERT. I'd never really known who he was before, but he's really very funny. I think I saw more old timers like Chester Conklin in there too someplace.

Now I'm jonesin' to see some of the Laurel and Hardy silents again image.
