I caught 'em all, much to the chagrin of everybody else in the house.

As you say, Perry, the shorts looked fine, while the features were a mixed bag. The MGM releases looked the best, but unfortunately FLYING DEUCES was RKO. The dvr screwed up for PARDON US (which I really like, and not just because it has Karloff in it), but the sound was wonky on my feed anyway, so I didn't miss much. At least I got to see Peter Cushing in A CHUMP AT OXFORD.

Watching so many in a single day can be a bit disorientating. Every other one had the boys getting chewed out by wives or getting ready to sack out, with or without wives. Ollie often seemed to be in a nightshirt, or a hospital bed or something like that. Mae Bush came and went with regularity, as did Commandant Charles Middleton at more than one desert installation.

I'll tell you, though, even with the sound turned off, these guys are funny -- proving that the secret of their success lies in the expert visual timing, though the vocal stuff is pitch perfect too. And I love their singing and dancing -- it's no wonder TRAIL OF THE LONESOME PINE made the charts in England back in the '70s!

This was the first 24 hour Laurel & Hardy marathon on TCM, and I sure hope it's not the last. Bravo.
