The biggest thing that troubles me is the CGI transformation scenes; the wolfman ain't no cartoon and shouldn't be cast as one.

The cinematography on display in this remarkable footage reminds me of the cold, desolate and lonely feel evoked by that other recent werewolf film, the third Harry Potter movie (which was handled very effectively), and I'm pretty jazzed about that. The werewolf seen there had makeup for the transitional scenes, but the full creature was strictly computer generated, while here the balance will be completely the opposite. It's such a thrill to see the payoff of a completely tangible and in-your-face werewolf that I think of CGI as a means to an end here, the end being an actual Wolfman in the flesh. The CGI vampire transformations in the Buffy and Angel tv shows were minimal and effective, and I think a similar device can work here as a narrative tool.
