Some sources indicate a running time of 85/87 minutes for the Japanese version; the U.S. version runs 79 minutes.

A Japanese newspaper article about the making of the film (originally dated June 2, 1966) was reprinted in Greg Shoemaker's JAPANESE FANTASY FILM JOURNAL (#14). According to the article, Peggy Neal was "a Junior at Sophia University's International Division", "majoring in economics, political science, and psychology". WATER CYBORG (the Japanese title) was her first film, "although she has been modeling since the age of four". She also "lived in Nagoya for two years as a child".

The article also reported that in the U.S. the picture would "be shown on televison in three installments" before being released to theaters, and quoted producer William Ross of RAM Films as saying that if it proved successful, his company would produce "at least thirteen more similar films in Japan, probably at the rate of four a year".
