I've heard the transfer of Dark Sky's Terror from Beneath the Sea was done by the HD Monsters video channel, and is subsequently cropped to 1.78:1 (instead of the 2.35:1 that it should be).

Terror Beneath the Sea was never 2.35:1. I have the Japanese R2 DVD and the aspect ratio was always 4:3. They did stretch it out to 1.78:1 though, courtesy of Monsters HD, but I have to say Dark Sky's DVD looks much better than the Japanese DVD. The colors are brighter, the picture is cleaner, and though some heads nearly stray out of the picture, I would say they did a pretty good job.
