Accepted. There were no staff writers at Hammer, per se. Everything, including all the Sangster & Hinds stuff, was on a freelance, one-off basis. But I was indeed referring to Kneale's employment as a staff writer for BBC.

Dick Landau had a long background in radio, a lot of film experience, and I'd suggest it was probably him who gave the Kneale TV scripts the focus. Presumably he was suggested because Lippert wanted to bring some sort of American tone to the project (which I don't think happened.) He'd written a lot of the early Hammer/Lippert films, including SPACEWAYS (like QX, adapted from another source) and the non-Hammer LOST CONTINENT. Guest was a pretty adequate scribe, too, having begun as a newspaperman and branched into writing comedy films.
