I have several hundred vinyl LPs and a Dual turntable w/ a Shure cartridge and I listen to my albums mostly when burning them to CDR. I think many times the CDRs I've recorded do sound better. Especially noticeable on say a various artist CDR where I've recorded from both vinyl and CD.

A problem for me with playing vinyl is the cartridge alignment. I put on an new cartridge not too long ago and I'm pretty sure I don't have the thing aligned right. I'm concerned I'm damaging the records and even he stylus maybe. If only manufacturers could ever come up with a surefire way of making turntable cartridge alignment and overhang, tone arm balance and all that stuff spot-on perfect and permanent...would be nice.
