OK, I can buy into the fact that he had no idea how much the collection was worth. But he DID know that it was not his property to do with as he pleases. Tough call on how to act/react. You do have legal options, but will it be worth the impact such actions might have on your family? Look over your options and give the matter some thought. (In the meantime, grab up everything you want to keep, and get it safely locked away.) Don't know if any action could be taken against Ebay for handling stolen goods or not. They seem to be something of a nightmare to deal with, at times.
