as a "Famous Monsters had Star Wars on the cover every month" late generation Monster Kid... I'm increrasingly grateful and appreciative of EYE OF THE TIGER and CLASH OF THE TITANS for giving my wide eyed toddler self the chance to see brand new Harryhausen magic on the big screen. I'm sure it was some sort of bonding experience for me and my dad, who had fond memories of seeing SEVENTH VOYAGE in his youth. And I reckon the experience cemented my bond with a plethora of films made years or decades before I was born. KING KONG can never seem antiquated to me, not after seeing another giant stop motion monster wrecking a city being presented to me as State of the Art, current cinema on the big screen. I even had CLASH OF THE TITANS action figures to compete with my Luke Skywalker and R2D2, et al. Setting aside the rose colored glasses.... yeah it is easily the weakest of the Harryhausen Sinbads. And what is the deal with Patrick Wayne's tan in those shots of them on location in the Middlle East? Jane Seymore still gets my heart racing though....
