I'm still trying to figure out how I became Mummified Remains in my last post ...
I think you're right about the age outlook, Dr. Acula (and, by the way, has anyone ever told you that you look like Tiffany Shepis?).
I was 14 when I saw
Tiger
and
so
ready for it (
Golden Voyage
was then, and remains to this day, my favorite Harryhausen film). I was 18 and in college when I saw
Clash
and was a little more jaded, but I redisovered/reappraised it in a major way when I was dating a much younger girl who called it her favorite film from her childhood (she saw it on television, of course). She was in college when we dated and went to Dragon Con with me in 1998 so I could introduce her to Ray and have him sign her
Clash
video box. I started seeing that film through her young and open eyes and grew to love it on its own terms.
The Medusa scene from
Clash
is a masterpiece, hands down. And Olivier's appearance sets up a really funny scene with Joan Plowright in
The Last Action Hero
.
