It is a remake of the '41 film - but with some plot alterations. Del Toro is Lawrence Talbot, but he's an actor. It takes place in victorian England rather than Wales circa '41.

"but he's an actor" For a moment I thought the thread had degenerated into Lon Chaney Jr bashing. I had to wait till this morning to see those make up pics on the computer at work (I'm still on a piece of crap ancient computer here at home...I finally gave up on getting anything better anytime soon so finally hooked it up again last night. But at least I have a proper monitor now so I can see what I'm typing.... not like when it was hooked up to a TV!).... Anyhoo... WOW! In arrogant, revisionist-happy Hollywood, Rick Baker comes though once again displaying his Monster Kid heart proudly on his sleeve! I've always thought the humaness of the Pierce makeup is axactly what made it so much more scary and memorable than the animatronic and CGI wolf headed men of the past 25 years. And to thinks... there is a whole generation or two now that know nothing cartoony animatronic and CGI doggie head werewolves. The "hoaky, just a guy in makeup" will be new and exciting to them! I hope. Anyway, Congress should pass a law that Universal can only update their classic monsters if Rick Baker is involved! Any chance he will be doing the new Creech as well?
