Just watched this, and I won't be able to get the music out of my head for the rest of my life because the same few cues are repeated endlessly throughout most of the picture. It is as goofy as any Japanese film of the era, and, while I can't say I enjoyed every second of it, as mindless entertainment it more than fit the bill. How come when I was 17 I didn't know any "girls" who looked like that? I liked the fact that the two differently-ethnic leads were romantically involved, even though we didn't get past hand-holding to the kissing stage, as I guess that might have been too much given when the picture was made?
