I have no problem with studios re-releasing classic pictures every few years with new extras and new packaging.
Me neither, so long as they also continue to bring out previously unreleased films. (After three DVD releases of DeMille's THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, I'd kind of like to see Paramount finally getting around to doing at least one DVD release for the director's SAMSON AND DELILAH.)

One problem I do have is when a studio complains that DVD sales are down, yet their practice of double and triple-dipping titles is never once considered part of the problem. Many of us here are willing to upgrade a favorite film, but a lot of mainstream consumers have the mindset that, "I already own this, why should I buy it again?" And with the economy not so hot and gas prices up (no wonder oil companies boast of fantastic profits the last couple of years), there's bound to be some increased penny-pinching among many. As for THE MUMMY, the extras make this sound promising. As for THE MUMMY III, it sounds like a good popcorn movie. (And a new Indy Jones film on the horizon, too!)
