Last year, I watched Subversive Cinema's R1 DVD of THE CANDY SNATCHERS (1973); a fun film, with good supplemental features... except that, for every menu screen item you might click, you'd get (literally) a minute-long+ clip (or montage of clips) from the movie, even if you were simply just going for "Scene Selection" or "Audio Options". Not only was this stuff a potential bushel of spoilers for newbies, but even if you had seen the film before, it was taking (seemingly) a lifetime before you could do what would normally take a split-second to do on nearly any other DVD. I think whoever designed the menus (or whoever called the shots) was a bit too much in love with the film.
First (and worst) one that I thunk of.

I third that. Those menu clips were so long, I figured the disk had jumped to a chapter stop in the middle of the film somewhere instead of the menu. I took several minutes of fiddling and finally waiting until the clip ran itself out to figure out what was going on. Also, the clips seemed entirely random, with no action shot or snazzy catchphrase or whatever to justify the choice.
