In his case, this is a blessing. Alzheimer's is one God-awful disease. R.I.P.

How true. In my lifetime I've watched many relatives and a few friends wither away to nothing by cancer. It is a horrible disease. But Alzheimer's...God!

My grandmother died from it. Now my mom has it. You can't imagine what it's like. Everyday, they loose a little bit of who they were. Everyday a little less of their essence just disappears until one day everything you were is gone. The body still lives. The heart still beats, but your total identity vanishes...forever. Everything you were...gone.

I loved Heston, the man. I loved his films even more...and yes, I also loved his politics. He was larger than life in every sense of the word. Damn few like him left in Hollywood which makes me all the more sadder.
