I wonder what the folks that did the color separations on Curse of the Spawn went through?

Funny you should ask that, cap. I used to buy Curse Of The Spawn just to study the color separations. They used the Cod Barrette (sp?) electronic color separation system, an arcane and complicated cacophony of polygons and overlays, favored by the Image boys at that time. It could yield exceptional results but was tricky to master, compared to, say, PhotoShop.

Remember the art in that book? I could never figure out how the artist had enough time in a month to create that many lines.
Oh I remember. I feel that art reflects the personality of the artist, and the artwork always reminded me of a tightly wound ball of string, ready to explode.

I once stood in line behind the Curse of the Spawn inker at a taco cart in San Diego, bristling while he "exploded" at the taco guy for, I dunno, leaving the catsup off the burrito or something, then throwing a wad of bills at the guy. I shook my head and quietly apologized to the unfortunate vendor on behalf of comics fans everywhere. Art reflecting the artist, I guess. Talk about your Curse of the Spawn.

Btw, the taco guy smiled understandingly and said "he probably just had a bad day", an exceptional man. By the fifth or sixth day of ComicCon, this guy had obviously seen it all ....

And the taco, btw, was exceptional too.
