I've always hated Jim Lee's stuff. He's from that I've always hated Jim Lee's stuff. He's from that Leifield/Larson school where the more extraneous lines you can cram into each square micrometer of a panel, the more praise you get. It's too crowded, too busy, too hard on the eyes. /Larson school where the more extraneous lines you can cram into each square micrometer of a panel, the more praise you get. Jim Lee, is a great talent in my book but I just find his work a little cold. Okay, Batman's supposed to be creepy but I want my Superman a little more approachable and Lee , to my eyes, makes him look a Nazi poster boy.
As we've said before a lot of this taste but I really believe that Leifield is one of the most over rated artists I've ever encountered. He'd never have got a gig in the sixties or seventies at either of the majors. He seems to have no sense of basic anatomy and makes up for it with a lot of flash and all those lines you've mentioned. Quite like Larson though. This is a great thread
