Count Karnstein, you are obviously a scholar of comics and graphic art---but with all due respect there is no way you can compare Jim Lee's artwork to Rob Liefeld and Eric Larson. Lee's art is wonderful and, unlike the other two, he has an understanding of anatomy and basic physiognomy. I was discussing comic art with a very well respected comic book artist once in a social situation. This was not at a convention or comics show, so the artist had no idea I was a comic book fan until we starting discussing them. The artist pointed out how little the majority of the Image artists really understood the human anatomy. The artist went on to point out that in one Rob Liefeld panel he had drawn a character with clenched teeth and the character had 32 teeth showing---and those were just he uppers. Again, no disrespect intended, we all have different tastes and what pleases my eye doesn't necessarily please yours. But Jim Lee is heads and shoulders above Liefeld and Larson.

I would agree with you about Thor. As a kid I loved the Lee/Kirby storyline where he discovered that he had always been Thor and his Dr. Blake persona was the basic super hero secret identity in reverse. That was pretty cool. But the last time I attempted to reconnect with the character he was an ambulance driver who was paying penance for inadvertantly killing a couple of folks. That storyline lost my interest faster than a speeding bullet.

And, Wich2, while I mention Alex Raymond as one of my all time favorites Hal Foster is certainly in the same category. Thanks for posting that beautiful Foster Sunday page!
