Yowsa, Count - I think you're out on a limb, there.

Yes, his later stuff - like Kirby's, and Gil Kane's, and for that matter, Elvis's!, can seem like a parody of itself.

But at his peak?

I admit that at his peak he was much better, but even then I didn't care much for his style. Early on though, he got into that nasty pointy elbow stuff, and it got much worse as we got into the later 60s and the 70's.
I don't think Kirby ever got bad, it was just that some of his later stuff was rushed. I enjoyed his work on Eternals and Capt. America just as much as his early work on FF and Thor. Same for Kane. He was great right up until the end.

With Aparo, wasn't he already sick with something when he did Death In the Family? I can't think of a more consistent artist aside from perhaps Dillin, and I liked Aparo much more.

The odd thing is that Sal Buscema teamed with Jim Mooney as an inker is one of my favorite teams even though I'm not all that thrilled with either alone or with other artists. Here is an example, and I consider this to be the epitome of what comic book art should look like:

Except for Kirby, nobody has ever done Thor better than Sal Buscema/Jim Mooney.
