Maybe Aparo was less than thrilled by the topic of that storyline and the bizarre way it was generated -- readers calling a number to vote if Robin lived or died. I didn't notice that the art was substantially different than Aparo's other Bat-work (I don't think he could draw a bad issue if he tried), but this might be another case of the subjectivity involved in naming "good" and "bad" art/artists.

(The whole "Death in the Family" debacle can be seen as a precursor to today's Internet-driven continuity decisions. Remember the negative PR that DC had to deal with when the general public learned the company had readers -- in their minds, kids -- voting to kill off a hero, thereby making the little cherubs complicit in his death? A tempest in a teapot situation, to be sure!)
