When I was a kid I never cared much for Ditko's art. But, I didn't jump onto the Marvel bandwagon until about 1966, so I missed Ditko during the developmental years. I do believe as an adult I have come to appreciate his style a bit more. But, when I think of the great artitsts from the period when I ate, slept and breathed comics they would include Neal Adams, Barry Smith and Berni Wrightson. Romita will always be the Spider-Man artist in my book. The Severins, John Buscema, Frank Brunner, there were a lot of great artists around the books during that period. I just can't seem to put Ditko in the same category with those folks.

Meanwhile, was it me or did McFarlane's Peter Parker always look like he'd been hit in the face with a concrete block? I don't think ol' Todd ever mastered portraiture. But he did end up in a position where he could pay millions for an important game ball. Go figure.
