Everything after Ditko is in a different league. I grew to like Romita's work very well, but the change in styles was initially such a shock I don't think the change-over could have sustained itself had it not taken place within the super-captivating Spidey/Goblin unmasked storyline.

Gil Kane had a run on AMAZING SPIDER-MAN too; I almost stopped reading when Peter sprouted the extra arms. Kane's best work for the company may have been CAPTAIN MARVEL. A few artists' best work for Marvel seemed to come while rescuing books from Don Heck: Gene Colan's IRON MAN, John Buscema's AVENGERS to name two others.
