Good stuff, guys.

As I grew up mainly DC, I've been catching up on classic Marvel, by way of affordable old MARVEL TALES, etc.

As far as Spidey's artists, having just read the Treasury (ah, what a lost gem of a medium...) that contains a smorgasboard-to-date, I'd have to go with Ditko as the best. Largely because his characters don't look like the run-of-the-mill for the era. To me, Romita made Peter/Spidey, and the rest of the cast, look too much like your garden-variety superhero book people.

Andru, I didn't much like back in the day - too weird for my Curt Swan eyes! - but have come to appreciate. A lot.

As far as in general, Stan's warts not dismissed, I've found the best of the early Lee-Ditko/Kirby/Ditko Spidey/FF/Dr. Strange to be some of the most flat-out-fun comical bookies ever done.

Best,
-Craig W.
