The producers of LOST did something absolutely unheard of in the industry last year, they voluntarily made a deal with ABC to end their hit show in 2010. By knowing exactly how many episodes they had left to finish the series, the writers no longer had to endlessly string viewers along.

Suddenly, things began making a whole lot more sense in season 3 of LOST. Storylines became focused, some nagging questions were answered and the pacing grew more and more relentless as the show hurtled toward its stunning finale.

While fans cursed the infuriating ending of THE SOPRANOS and complained about HEROES' lukewarm wrap-up, the producers of LOST led by example and showed others how it was done. May 23rd's closer, "Through the Looking Glass", was television at its finest, an outstanding, thrill-a-minute corker that featured the castaways' brutal war with the "others", the heart-breaking, noble death of a major character and some absolutely jaw-dropping final moments that not only re-invented the show but made us understand it in an entirely new light.

LOST continues to be ground-breaking, classic television and for my money, it's clearly the best show of 2007.
