I would be curious to see the scene of the boy being attacked by the shark, but I am glad the movie ended up the way it did without it. I think the scene as released is very effective... you can't quite make out precisely what is going on amidst the chaos, but you can tell it's something horrifying. Same thing with the estuary scene. I've always felt JAWS worked well because you don't see much of the shark at first... then a little more each time... and finally, the first head-on glimpse is when Brody is chumming.
