I have been hesitant to buy these DVD's but everyone else seems to like them. It is just that I have been burned many times by BCI when they were BRENTWOOD COMMUNICATIONS INC.

I never got any of their discs back when they were "Brentwood", but I'm familiar with their poor reputation. I've bought every one of the BCI Spanish Horror Collection discs, and so far they've all been first class. The packaging is slick, the extras are pretty damn good, the transfers are excellent and in most cases, the most complete versions of these films on the market. It wouldn't be stretching a point to say that what BCI has accomplished with their Spanish Horror line is comporable to what CasaNegra has done with their Mexican Horror films. Plus, the Best Buy exclusive 2-pack deals are a real bargain.

They even come with liner notes inserts -- which, I know, isn't a deal-breaker usually, one way or the other, but in a time when most companies don't bother with them anymore, it's a nice touch, and another sign of how much extra effort BCI's team has been putting into these.

One little caveat: the FILMS THEMSELVES are rather a mixed bag -- I wouldn't call ANY of them a genuine "classic". These are low-budget exploitation movies, with plenty of blood and exposed female flesh, bizarre plotting and often silly dialogue, but I do find them enjoyable if I watch them in the right frame of mind. And they've never EVER looked better than they do on these dvd's.
