It just occurred to me while watching a block of the A & C SHOW that.....Besides Bud & Lou. Besides the funny funny supporting cast. Besides the clever writing... Why does this show hold up so well ?
I don't think we've ever given Jean Yardbrough some of the credit for this success. Yardbrough acting as producer and director(first season) must have had some fingerprints on the show's longevity. Clearly a good eye for staging comedy in TV's infancy. Partly updating burlesque routines. Maybe part Poverty Row charm. Surely he's one of the unsung hero's of this great show. Do ya think ?
