Recently read a novella in Jim Turner's anthology ETERNAL LOVECRAFT that may just be the finest prose FRANKENSTEIN sequel ever -- "Black As The Pit, From Pole To Pole" by Steven Utley and Howard Waldrop. Its basic plot engine is brilliantly imaginative, yet so obvious in retrospect you marvel that no one ever thought of it before. And once it gets going, its wild unpredictibilty is such that I'm loathe to even hint at the story details for fear of spoiling it -- but I CAN say it's gorgeously written, eerie and and moving, a genuine tour-de-force. Highly recommended and worth tracking down.
