Something about John Williams in DIAL M...it's a solid, effective, workmanlike performance, but it would never go down as any sort of classic piece of acting. There's just something about it, his presence, his look, his voice. I've always felt that John Williams' cop in that Hitchcock movie is one of those rare, inexplicable little pieces of perfection. There is no one else I'd rather see in that role. There is no one else I'd even care to imagine in that role.
