Whether you liked him or not this is very sad news. Most people I know disowned him after the baby handling fiasco in 2004, and while that act was in my opinion very stupid and irresponsible it doesn't discount all the good he did. In his short life he managed to do what few have ever done, make people not only aware of the need for conservation, but actively excited about it, he got people all over the world asking what they could do to help. I have had a deep respect for him since I saw an episode of his show where he broke down and cried after the death of a crocodile he had know for years, and who had tried to kill him every chance she got, I was touched, he really DID love and try to care for these animals. Most of us have probably laughed at jokes with him narrating his own death "Crikey he's got me leg", how unfunny that all seems (to me at least) now. I guess after seeing him cheat death so many times we just never thought it would happen. R. I. P. Steve
