I actually watched Ford's screen (not feature film) debut at his 90th birthday fete this past May 1st at the Egyptian Theatre.

It was a Paramount short, "Night in Manhattan" (1937), with a 21 year old Glenn Ford as a nightclub emcee introducing a series of song-and-dance acts.

Interestingly, Peter Ford, Glenn's son, explained that Paramount couldn't find a tuxedo to fit his father- this was a short-fused situation- so Glenn Ford wore the same tux that Marlene Dietrich donned in "Morocco".

God knows if the Dietrich tux connection is true (please- no posts asking me if I have an affadavit from Paramount wardrobe or something similar...), but it made for a great story

Ford looked so young and had a high reedy voice, it was incredible.

Following the Paramount short, the next clip was a video of Ford at 90, trying to talk and thank everyone for coming. The contrast was shocking.
