A couple of years ago, Miles Kreuger the musical guy asked me in a late night phone call, "can you think of a single leading man of the 1930s who is alive?"

Everyone we could think of was subject to the qualifications discussed above. The earliest I can find on Ford is HEAVEN WITH A BARBED WIRE FENCE (1939) - so he was acting in the 30s but not yet leads. Fay Wray's name was often used to stretch the number of silent era actresses still living.

Junior Coughlin is in SLIDE KELLY SLIDE (1926) which has the entire New York Yankees lineup of 1927 in it. He has a copy. He gave me his business card on my wedding night - the Sons of the Desert were holding a meeting at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel - and I still haven't called him. (I'd better wake up)
