Isn't it a shame that comic book movies weren't given the respect back in the 1940's that they get these days? Orson Welles would have made a great Batman! And Rathbone as The Joker could have been very interesting. Ever since the Christopher Reeve Supeman was released I've wondered who would have played Superman in the 1940's if a picture had been produced as an A picture. I think it woudl have been Cary Grant.

Was the Reeve Superman the first A comic book movie? I can't recall an earlier film that had the kind of budget and star power that Superman had.
