If GHOUL [would (or Wood) have been made, I think the plan was for someone else to direct it. I'm guessing had Gene Autry taken it seriously, he would have insisted. And somebody else-- say, a Reginald LeBorg, a Tommy Carr, Roll'em Scholem or One-Shot Beaudine -- been at the helm, it probably would've been watchable.

In his post-hospital filmed interview, Lugosi says he's looking forward to work again, and that "Eddie Woodis the producer, and the writer." Doesn't say director, tho'.

I think FILMFAX had an article a few years back saying they wanted Chaney for a role, too.
