Is someone saying the the James Bond theme is NOT heard in "The Living Daylights"...??
What???
The motive is heard thru-out the entire film.

I wanted to make sure of my statement before responding to your comment, Paul. I listened to the entire score again today on my way home from school. Here is my assessment:

First, my CD is labeled "the original motion picture soundtrack -- Deluxe Edition." It contains a total of 21 tracks, 12 of which are what I assume to be the main score, and another 9 are given as bonus material.

The James Bond theme is partially heard on 2 of the 12 tracks on the main score -- the main Bond up-tempo riff is repeated two or three times on track 4 (Ice Chase) but there is no lead-in or conclusion. The lead-in to the main Bond up-tempo riff is heard at the very end of track 6 (Koskov Escapes) and it's only repeated twice. That is all the Bond theme music provided for the main 12 tracks of the score, and in neither case is it a complete theme.

Track 13 (Exercise at Gibraltar) kicks off the bonus material. It is the _only_ fully-realized Bond theme on the entire CD. And it is heard only once. There is another small partial piece in (I believe) track 20 (Final Confrontation).

At best, the theme is heard in some truncated form or another on 4 of the 21 tracks -- less than 20%, and certainly not "thru-out" the entire film.

I guess my problem is that the 21 pieces are not presented as they occur in the film -- a big mistake in my opinion. Were they done chronologically, then the complete Bond theme would kick off the score (after an abominable theme song by... a-ha? ...), and the partials would be reasonable-albeit-truncated recaps. As it is, two of the three vocals that are included in the main score receive better recaps (because both are better instrumentals than vocals -- the songs in this film really suck).

So... I stand by my previous statement. There is barely enough Bond music to qualify this as a Bond score.
