Actually, the funniest part of the show was the well-edited collection of Shatner clips at the top of the program, and the vintage video of Shatner performing selections from his TRANSFORMED MAN album.

Some of the blue material was clever and some was obvious. But the best delivered stuff came from the venerable Betty White. Her timing was Dangerfield perfect, and completely deadpan.

And I don't know who was writing his jokes, but Shatner's comebacks were sharper than most of what the so-called stand-up pros had. He expressed disappointment that they weren't all that funny in view of the fact that "I gave you all so much to work with!".

Possibly they were handicapped by the fact that they all seemed to be fans.
