Even though it is digital to digital, the slower-speed digital recording will be the one transferred. So any reductions in quality that happened when you recorded it to DVD the first time will be carried over.

Also, it really isn't digital-to-digital if you copy a DVD through composite or even component or S-video connections. I believe that would take the digital signal, convert it to analog, and then the DVD recorder would redigitize it.

To go digital-to-digital needs a computer situation as described above, or a hard drive to DVD-R situation. And even then. I'm not sure a TiVo, for example, sends out a digital signal, but an analog one. I may be wrong on that, though. Anyone know more?
