If you have an older, cathode-ray tube type of television set, any computer made in the last few years will be vastly superior as regards resolution, the number of colors that can be displayed, and, last but not least, the refresh rate. Old TVs flicker in a most un-movie-like manner.

If you have a modern LCD TV, the technology is exactly the same as in a computer monitor, and the resolution you get from a DVD is, naturally, the same in both cases. Hence if you perceive any difference in the experience it is simply a psychological illusion, and one you should be able to shake off easily.
