I do sometimes.
If the kids are watching something on the big tv or if it's late at night and I don't want to disturb my wife, I'll go in the computer room and watch what I want in there. The computer room is further away from our bedroom than the main tv set-up. So, I do it occasionally for practical purposes. Usually, it's something short and simple. No LAWRENCE OF ARABIA or REVENGE OF THE SITH. More likely an episode of SUPERMAN or a serial chapter or something. I have found though, that being able to put your face fairly close to the screen makes it a bit easier when I'm watching a film in "study" mode. If I really wanted to look at the sets or costumes for a film, for instance, I'd run it on the computer. I have really enjoyed watching the Fleischer SUPERMAN's this way. You can study each drawing almost as if you were looking at a book. I have watched full length films with the commentary on, though. Usually "serious" commentaries rather than just yack tracks. Again, makes it easy to study the picture closely.
