The news, the reviews and the extensively researched interviews give us invaluable material on an ongoing subject that remains largely locked in Japanese language.

Without G-Fan I would have been lost in deciphering current and upcoming news about Japanese monster movies, and my DVD collection would be all the poorer without their info.

JD also organises the annual conventions, enabling rare theatrical screenings, premieres even, of J-monster movie epics.

Best of all was the G-Tour in 2004 - Godzilla's 50th Birthday Tour of Japan. I was the UK contingent - what a fantastic introduction to the country:
- a guided tour of buildings Godzilla and friends had trashed
- an introduction to the cities and culture of Japan
- a visit to Hiroshima, which started it all

I daren't miss a copy so I subscribe.

Yeah, there's fan art and fan fiction - the magazine has to be all things to all people and can't leave anyone out. I have to say that there are so many pages now, I don't feel that anything has been edged out by the comics. The mag always grows to the size that includes all the contributions, and some of the colour artwork is of a spectacular standard.

(I'm not on a percentage, honest, I just love the mag.)
