Bill, the Internet Movie Database says that all five of the Superman compilation movies were released in the United States in November, 1954. I know that the IMDB is far from infallible, but the question of whether they ever played in this country or not might be worthy of some further investigation.

First, when dealing with the IMDb, it's always wise to keep in mind that it is based in England, and therefore tends to be a bit Old Blighty-centric. Secondly, they're occasionally wrong. I have never seen any indication anywhere else that those "movies" were released in the U.S.; the AFI Catalog does not include them, though they do list one of the movies (WHITE GODDESS) made of episodes of Jon Hall's "Ramar of the Jungle" TV series. I am due for a long visit to the Academy Library, and will check further--but when I worked on Walt Lee's list, the conclusion he and I (and Don Willis) drew was that they were never released in the U.S. I don't think they've even turned up on television.

I have submitted corrections to the IMDb, trying to get them to change those release dates from USA to UK.
