Even as a kid -- reading the very early issues of FM -- I always felt disappointed when past articles were reprinted. In the Fearbooks it was fine, but I never liked it in the magazine itself.

The reality is probably that readership of FM, like comics, had a very brief cycle for MOST kids -- maybe from 11 to 15 or so -- and to the vast majority of readers of the magazine all the articles (even the reprinted ones), looked new.

But even within that brief reader-window, I think I saw articles reprinted in the early days. Never liked it.

As for FM's 'bad days,' I never read the magazine in the late 1960s or beyond, having left it around the 1966 Fearbook.

But in its day, faults and all, Famous Monsters paved the way.
