The issue didn't even have a letters page or editorial, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if Forry not only had nothing to do with putting the issue together, but was embarassed when he saw it.

And I wouldn't be surprised if this was all Forry's doing -- he just wasn't working on the magazine much any more. And can that man really BE embarrassed?

I still think the problem is that we're looking back on FAMOUS MONSTERS of the late '60s and early '70s with the more experienced eyes of 2006 fans.

I refer to FM's "bad years" (late '60s-early '70s) as a comparison to how it was in the earlier years, not in comparison to superior monster books and magazines of later years. It was never a really well-done magazine, but it was at least good and a lot of fun in the early years.

FM #2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 were stapled spines. I believe no.s 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 20 are staples spines as well.

#10 and 11 were stapled, too. Except for the first issue, the 68 page issues were stapled, while the 100 page issues (#13, #19, #21 on) weren't. Then the staples returned long after the magazine had deteriorated into something worthless.
