I recently got another copy of the very first monster mag I ever bought, 1968's FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND No. 49, my original of which was long ago lost to the winds. Except for Bill Warren's "The Ghost of 'The Ghost of Frankenstein'," every article in the thing was a reprint. There was a one page Dracula short story and another filler page of quotes from old classics. Well, for all I know, THEY may have been reprints as well, as was the "Footsteps of Frankenstein" comic story which, fairly obviously, must have first seen print in an issue of CREEPY or EERIE. The issue didn't even have a letters page or editorial, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if Forry not only had nothing to do with putting the issue together, but was embarassed when he saw it.

Strange that such a shoddy publication got me so interested in this field. However, it didn't seem shoddy when I was nine years old, and maybe that's what Warren was counting on.
