One thing I noticed about SATANIS was how little charisma comes across onscreen from LaVey. I'd always understood this guy was a compelling and charismatic cult-leader type, only without hurting anyone. In the film, he doesn't come across as anything special and the Church of Satan really seems to be just another variety of San Francisco hippy silliness, which it probably was. However, this doc is a very good record of social history and I'd recommend it to anyone interested in 60s weird culture.
