There are always wacky surprises in the world of home video, I guess. One company started making noises like they were going to begin releasing old comedies that were part of a series -- then they started going through the vaults to look at the material. Oh-oh. For instance, for one 1946 movie, ALL they have is a 16mm print that's probably FROM 1946 -- with 52 splices in the first 60 seconds!

"Surprises" like this can upset apple carts pretty easily.
