I think it has more to do with them wanting not to overexpose The Beatles and holding projects in reserve until one thing done well can have its time in the spotlight.

Wouldn't you agree that the "spotlight" on the 1987 Beatles CD releases has run its course? :) It's not like they have so many projects -- the LOVE album is done with, and before that we didn't really have anything major except for the ANTHOLOGY which was 1995 and 1996!

I've heard that the LET IT BE project, when it does surface, will be considerably more than what it once was, with lots of supplementary material; it might even be re-edited into something longer and more ambitious. They do seem anniversary conscious, so we might expect this sometime around the 40th anniversary in 2010. HELP! has missed its chance for a 40th anniversary DVD.

But this month was the 40th Anniversary of Sgt. Pepper - and nuthin'! As for LET IT BE, I've heard about all this extra material too, but it's been just talk. Besides, not to gloat, but as a looonnngggtime collector of unusual Beatles/Solo video, I'd bet I already have most of the bonus footage they may "dig up"! ;)

Here is a Beatles Message Board I frequent, if you're interested:
