The Gorgon was due to be one of a batch of thirteen Hammer films released by an independent label here in the UK called DD Home Entertainment. They apparently acquired the release rights for all of the unreleased Sony/Columbia Hammers.

The rumour was that they would begin to appear this autumn, though I never heard anything about a boxset.

Sadly, shortly after this news, DDHE went bust. The good news is that they have now been bought as a going concern by another company. What this means for the Hammer titles is anyone's guess. I suspect that it is at least going to delay things.

Last year saw the release of a very large Hammer boxset here in the UK by an independent called Optimum. This was because Canal Plus - who own the rights to many films - acquired Optimum as part of a strategy to release the films in their archive to DVD themselves, rather than by selling the rights to other labels. This boxset contained a number of Hammers that were previously released in the UK by Warner (some being in print for less than a year), plus a slew of previously unreleased titles.
