I know I've seen worse, the 50's weren't exactly a good time for the "horror" film.

I certainly love some messy movies, but I'd also rather give time to something I really like of haven't seen, even outside of the genre.

It's true I guess I've never seen Lugosi "phone it in," but Karloff, yes. I kind of get the feeling that Karloff wasn't all that inventive and a bit more academic in his approach, however I'd say the same of Lawrence Oliver, and he's fun to watch too.
